The Best Thing I've Ever Seen To Win In Business
Business is not like a test where everyone who passes gives the same answers.
Business is not like a test where everyone who passes gives the same answers. Instead, it is like a triathlon; some run faster, while others swim better, and many more are best on bicycles.
Like a triathlon, the finish line takes time, discipline, and the ability to perform while uncomfortable.
Time
While two of my companies were able to exit in a little over a year, that is not the norm. The point with time is commitment. Everyone involved in leadership should commit to giving their best until an exit occurs.
Discipline
Forgot about weekends, vacations, and the typical middle-class stuff. It is the opposite of financing something. Instead of trading your future for the present, you are trading today for tomorrow.
Discomfort
Get comfortable with being uncomfortable. There will be days when the discomfort is mental and others when you don’t have time to eat. This is why many wealthy people take cold showers, run marathons, and do things that hurt. The ability to be uncomfortable is a superpower.
Conclusion
During a triathlon, many participants will have cramps, jellyfish stings, rocks in their shoes, and countless other problems that must be overcome to finish the race. Your startup is the same way. There is no direct path. Instead, life becomes a series of obstacles that must be overcome. Learn to do this, and you can have a big exit event.
