Revealing More Of What Happened

In the summer of 2023, I sold Finalysis, a company I co-founded. About a week later, I raised funds for a new venture called Estimand. This was to be a Causal AI company that would compete with the major players in the industry.

It started with beer.

Knowing you do not go head-on with a larger competitor, we were looking for a niche where we could own the market. One of the engineers once owned a brewery and suggested we train our AI to brew beer.

AI for beer fizzled

The breweries do not have money for technology. After 200 free trials, no one converted into paying customers. Thus, we switched gears and applied AI to global economics.

Big name pilots

Once the AI was trained on numerous global datasets, it began to make discoveries about international finance. Soon, big-name banks and NGOs requested pilots. However, they were not sure how to use the information.

Banananomics

Despite the commercial rejection, our AI discovered the magnitude of bananas to global business. The average price of bananas in the US is a significant indicator of economic health. Telling the story to a marketing team gave us a new name and mission.

Economic news

The last iteration for Estimand was its reincorporation as Banananomics and its focus on reporting discoveries from the world economic graph our technology created. However, this, too, went largely unnoticed, and following the recommendations of those in my network, I switched gears to relaunch Bananaomics as a private equity firm.

Private Equity

Using the lessons learned from Estimand, my team of investors and I provide value-added equity stakes into promising companies willing to take our advice. If you or someone you know is looking to raise capital, feel free to reach out.

Hope this helps
